Wayne was born in Francis, Oklahoma on April 23, 1926, son of Albert Harley and Rena Floy West. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lorenia; brother, Al West; sisters, Louise Deaton, Wanda Price, Hazel McFadden and grandson, Jonathan West. He is survived by two sons, Clarence Harley (Helen) West and Michael Lee (Angie) West; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters LaVada (Joe) Brown, Dixie (Earl) Fields, Carolyn Gearhart; sister-in-law, Barbara West; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. Wayne was an honorably discharged Naval Veteran of World War II, proudly serving the United States aboard the USS President Adams, USS President Jackson and the USS President Monroe carriers. Wayne worked as an electrician at The Broadmoor Hotel for 42 years and was a member of The Broadmoor Pioneer Club. He was of Native American heritage of the Choctaw tribe and enjoyed making Native American jewelry. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution maybe made to One Nation Walking, 701 N. 20th Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904 or to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Emeritus who showed such loving compassion and understanding to Wayne. Visitation will be Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs.
